Who was Anestis Delias?
Anestis Delias was a member of “Tetras the famous of Piraeus”, which was the first musical group with the bouzouki as the main instrument. Although he died very young, he left his mark on folk song, to the extent that he characterized the evolution of the bouzouki technique. The documentary follows the course of his life from Smyrna, to Piraeus and the shacks of Drapetsona after the Asia Minor Disaster of ’22. Scientists, family members, musicians and collectors take us through the years he lived, trying to give us an overall picture of him, but also the context of the era in which rebetiko was born.
The screening will be accompanied by a presentation and discussion about the film’s theme with its actors and the audience.
