Blackout today at public transportas their employees work 24 hours a day strikewhich was announced by the Athens Labor Center in an extraordinary meeting in view of the passing of the draft law on DEKOs in the Parliament. Athens will, in particular, be without buses and trolleys from the start of the shift until the end, while the tram and metro (lines 1, 2 and 3) will not operate.

The workers are holding a protest rally at the Ministry of Finance at 12 noon.

On Tuesday afternoon (20/9), the STASY administration made it known through its announcement that it appealed to the courts to declare the strike illegal, noting that “the legal conditions for declaring a strike have not been met” and that due to the notification of the decision of the Unions this afternoon, the trial did not take place today and will take place tomorrow morning.

“We apologize in advance to the traveling public for the inconvenience and difficulties they will encounter during their journeys tomorrow” it is also pointed out in the STASY announcement.

The announcement of the employees of STA.SY.

“While society is experiencing, every day, the consequences of the privatization of PPC, with the dramatic increases in the price of electricity, the Government is promoting its plans for the privatization of E.Y.D.A.P. and the Public Transport companies, such as O.A.S.A., STA.SY. and OSY, not caring about the consequences of the profit-seeking filth, which will exist for the greatest good, water and Urban Transportation.

The bill, which is in the Parliament and implements this design, in order to facilitate privatization, also provides for a series of regulations, which lead to the dissolution of labor relations, create workers of many speeds within the same workplace and further undermine the role of collective bargaining .

In particular, newly hired employees are excluded from the Operational Collective Labor Agreements and their dismissal is facilitated, even if they have been hired for an indefinite period. Also, for the first time, the existence of “rented” workers is foreseen in these companies.

At the same time, in a crescendo of old partisanship and customer relations service with the specific bill: a) ASEP’s role in personnel recruitment is limited, b) commissions in direct assignments are strengthened and c) the door to hiring highly paid “golden boys” is opened as the possibility is given recruitment for positions of General Managers and Directors, undermining the professional development of existing staff.

All together the workers of the capital’s Urban Transports will fight, with all our strength, to prevent the passing of this extreme bill.

We are participating in the 24-hour strike of the Athens Labor Center on Wednesday 21-9-2022, as well as the protest rally at 12:00 at the Ministry of Finance.”
