A piece of the pie of the commercial uses of the new KTEL station in Eleonas Attica, which will also serve Thessaly, is claimed by Attiko Metro S.A., which has assumed the role of technical consultant and “runs” the feasibility studies and environmental impact assessment for the EUR 100 million project, which is estimated to be auctioned at the end of the year.
This claim on behalf of Attiko Metro is created as the new station will be built near the “Elaionas” station of Line 3, with which there will be a direct connection, while the concession will also include lands belonging to the company.
As for the uses of the station – which will be more reminiscent of similar airport areas (see model) – both Attiko Metro S.A. claims. the concessionaire and the KTEL companies, include hotels, a conference center, commercial shops, catering facilities and bioclimatic buildings among others.
This is the Central Intercity Bus Station (KSYL) covering an area of 66 acres, which will serve 15 million passengers per year (that is, 40,000 per day), and will be the second transportation gateway of Athens after El. Venizelos.
