Greece, after continuous victories and triumphs, ended up in the most painful defeat of its history up to that point and was forced to experience the uprooting of thousands of Ionian inhabitants. However, the settlement of the refugees from the Ionian and Aeolian Lands in Metropolitan Greece helped greatly in the cultural promotion of the then destroyed Greece and contributed to the fact that after fifteen years, in 1940, “little” Greece shouted a “big” NO to the extravagant demands of Nazi Germany. Finally, he thanked the Mayor, the Director of GE.L Oropos and all those who contributed to the organization and implementation of the Tribute, which exceeded all expectations in terms of people’s participation. He congratulated the speaker, the dancers and the musicians who accompanied the event.
