A lightning trip to Patras was made yesterday by the well-known marathon runner Maria Polyzou, who is the ambassador of the “Fanis Tsimigatos” half-marathon, which will take place on October 15 in the Achaean capital.
Maria Polyzou came to our city and met with the Mayor of Patreon, Kostas Peletidis, as well as the deputy mayor for sports, Takis Petropoulos, on the occasion of the “Fanis Tsimigatos” half-marathon, as well as a theatrical event that will take place next month.
The play is based on the fairy tale “A giant called “M.P.” and has been written by the author Magda Kostopoulou-Beriou who was inspired by the successes of Maria Polyzou.
“P” on the sidelines of the visit to the town hall, spoke together with Maria Polyzou and made a reference to the marathon, calling on everyone:
“First of all, I am very honored that Patras has me as an ambassador in the Fanis Tsimigatos marathon to honor the memory of a man who was one of the best and in the old days I remember him leading the races and me as a little girl, I tried to follow him” said M. Polyzou initially and added: “I am very happy to be in my city and because I will participate, I am very excited to run in Patras after many years. At the same time, there will be a play about the giant called MP, and I hope the children will be inspired by it. What I have learned after all these years and what I tell the kids too is that they should chase their dreams to reach their own peaks.
The well-known marathon runner also commented on the release of her book “Don’t give up” which is essentially her autobiography…
“The message I want to convey through my book is to never give up until we reach our personal victory” emphasizes M. Polyzou and adds: “What I found after so many years, is that what I didn’t succeed, those were the ones I didn’t believe.”
“PATRA TO HONOR FANI”
In closing, Maria Polyzou, addresses an open invitation to the people of Patrina to support the half-marathon that will take place on October 15.
“I hope Patras will support the half marathon F. Tsimigatos who was a great marathon runner, I remember when I was 12-13 years old, when he took me with him in his car and we went to the beach of Kalogria to train” said the event’s ambassador and he added: “I would like the people of Patrina not only to run in the marathon but also to watch closely all the routes to show their love.”
