Theofania Papathoma and Grigoris Petrakos shared their version of the African dust via social media.

African dust “swallowed” the country and social media was filled with pictures of the orange sky and epic comments. “I went for a nap and woke up to Blade Runner, next stop: Mad Max,” one user wrote of the eerie images captured.

The posts of Theofania Papathomas and Grigoris Petrakos

Theofania Papathoma and Grigoris Petrakos did not leave the wave of dust that covered Athens untouched, arguing that something else is happening and not a weather phenomenon.

“They are killing us! And while you dream, fight and struggle to make your dreams come true, some people try to kill you with chemicals every day. It is not African dust. Tell us how to clean the heavy metals that spray us, from the body!”, wrote Theofania Papathoma on Instagram.

Ms Papathoma then edited her post and wrote: “Nice EFE! But what filters do they use? Lead and arsenic! The laboratory of climatology and atmospheric environment of the University of Athens declared. The most toxic poisons for the human body. They take care of us…”.

Grigoris Petrakos’ post on Facebook is similar. “It’s awesome, people who have lived 50, 60, 70 years in Athens and have never seen such a sky, to be convinced that what they see is happening because it blew. As if it had never blown before… Tell me here they believed that a bat bit a Chinese man and we had to be locked up in shelters for 3 years for a deadly virus that to see if you have it you have to take a test…”, he noted.
