“There was a conspiracy to throw me out and they succeeded,” said Kostas Bigalis.

Kostas Bigalis, a guest at Studio 4, mentioned the reason why Elena Paparizou did not perform his song “Light in our soul” in the national final for Eurovision 2005.

“The only thing that bothered me, but I got over it because it’s their problem, is the song with Elena Paparizou, Light in our soul, which she said amazingly, but it got on her record and went to number 2 in Sweden without being promoted at all.

There was a conspiracy to throw me out and they succeeded. I don’t know why, I haven’t hurt anyone. I believe that if it were to go, this would also come out first” said Kostas Bigalis.

“My song was 70% ahead and 26% the one that went and another 5%. They told me that you are going. A piece of information dropped from the fans. It had been pirated on the internet and ran afoul of the regulation,” continued Kostas Bigalis.

Alexis Bigalis

Kostas Bigalis revealed that he took his first steps in music with… another name: Alexis!

“I had made two 45s that were released but nothing great happened. A producer at the company, Terence Quick, then took over. He asked me to play him two of my songs, which he liked, and we recorded them. We recorded them and before the album came out he said to me: “Look, look at Kostas Bigalis, I don’t really like it”. At that time, monologues such as Dakis, Paschalis, etc. had come into fashion. “I want to call you Alexis, do you have a problem?”, he says to me.

And that’s how this 45-year-old named Alexis Bigalis still exists on the internet”, revealed the well-known singer.

His first contract was signed by his father because he was a minor. “By the standards of the time, I was a minor. When I worked for about a year and I told my dad “I’m going to work in music”.

The beginning was made by a festival, together with his friends from the neighborhood.

“We were such amateurs that if they told us to play another song, we didn’t know. I fell victim to censorship in the Junta because the title of the song was “We must shout”. They told me we have to change the song. “Is someone bothering you and not letting you shout?”, they told me. The song was social, not love. And they told me to make it romantic because it wouldn’t work otherwise.

This was a competition for amateur bands and we got a composition award. The guys who made up the band were my friends from the neighborhood.”

“Bum, Out”

“It was a second record and it never happened. I fell out with the company manager. He told me “get the bum out of my office”. He was a man who believed in me but wanted it done his way.

He wanted me to play tracks from the next record with a guitar in his office. I told him I want to show some mockups and he insisted. He was crazy about me playing them to him in cantada style. Because I told him “I don’t do that” and he didn’t tolerate it. He threw me out and I left! He believed me a lot and I owe him but he didn’t think I could object.

He paid for everything, I was his pawn. He had made letters in New York and believed me as a composer and singer. He reacted because he didn’t want me to have any reaction. He thought we had a fight and I would go again. But I never went back. It wasn’t selfish, but he broke her. He called me a bum, I wasn’t a bum I just had a different opinion.

I left America through a manager who heard my songs and sampled them. Due to a mistake by this manager, I didn’t sign a pre-contract, a huge deal and it ended up being cancelled. While the record was to be released in New York and released by CBS, they told me to go to Germany and then go again as a ready-made production.

I went to Germany, signed the pre-contract and when the regular contract was ready to be drawn up, he called me and told me to “freeze”. The Germans had some reservations. It was bad judgment by the manager. The locals disagreed and the deal was cancelled.”
