THE Kate Middleton and prince william are celebrating their son Prince Louis’ sixth birthday with a royal tradition.

The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales starred in a new portrait in honor of his birthday on April 23.

The photo was taken by Princess Kate in Windsor in recent days, as sources tell People. It came with a simple message from the proud parents: “Happy 6th birthday Prince Louis! Thank you for all the wishes today.”

Royal fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of an image, as it is customary for one to be released on the eve of the royal couple’s children’s birthdays. However, given the circumstances with Kate undergoing cancer treatment and the family’s plea for privacy, expectations were low.

The couple decided to release the image as a way to thank fans who have been sending well wishes for the couple’s little one, but also for Kate’s health.
In the sweet snap, Prince Louis smiles directly into the camera while lying on a blanket in the grass, his arms resting on top of each other and a big smile.

The couple’s three children recently returned to school after the Easter holidays.

Traditionally, the Prince and Princess of Wales have released a new photo each year of their three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis – on their birthdays. Whether they bring in a professional photographer or Kate, who has called herself an “enthusiastic amateur photographer,” has stepped behind the camera to take the portraits on several occasions.

Last month, Kate Middleton edited a photo that Prince William had released, on the occasion of Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom. Shortly thereafter, on March 22, he announced that he was suffering from cancer through a video in which she was sitting alone on a bench. Following the controversy over changes to a family photo for Mother’s Day, Kensington Palace has assured that this photo has not been edited.

Since then, her fans have been eagerly waiting for a new look.
