THE Megan Fox shares her personal struggles with love, lust and heartbreak like never before. In her first poetry collection“Pretty Boys Are Poisonous,” the actress gives fans a glimpse of her most personal, dark thoughts, calling herself a “hopelessly romantic open wound of a person” and a “soul opener for any beautiful, broken, self-absorbed idiot” “hunts” her and “takes away” her life force.
“These poems were written in an attempt to eradicate the disease that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my whole life keeping men’s secrets and my body aches from the weight of their sins“, the star of “Jennifer’s Body” explained in a statement.
“My freedom lives on in these pages and I hope my words can inspire others to reclaim their happiness and identity by using their voice to shine a light on what has been buried, but not forgotten, in the dark».
Although Fox does not name any of her past or present lovers, many of the poems appear to have been written about her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly and be inspired by the “ups and downs” they have faced since May 2020.
Various passages in the book refer to a 32-year-old narcissist, the author’s true love, and a smug rock star who pretends to have… “good” intentions.
“You’re an addiction that no prayer will ever cure,” she writes in a poem titled “A Pretty Boy Is a Deadly Drug“, referencing an earlier post she used to profess her love for MGK via Instagram in August 2020. “You’re killing me, but my heart won’t leave you”.
MGK, 33, proposed to Fox, 37, in January 2022, with the two flaunting their love. The couple sparked breakup rumors in February 2023 when the actress deleted all of MGK’s photos from her Instagram and temporarily deactivated the account. Just a few days later, however, the pair seem to have gotten back together and have been together ever since.
“But then one day it happened. One of said idiots finally busted me,” Fox writes in the foreword to her book, apparently alluding to the recent breakup rumors.
“And from me came these poems, characterizing the previously unspeakable feelings of isolation, torture, self-harm, despair, longing, worry, restlessness, rage and general anguish».
Meanwhile, the last two poems, “I” and “II”, refer to the feeling of grief over a heartbreaking miscarriage. “There’s an ultrasound by your bed, 10 weeks and 1 day … do you think if she could, she would have left a suicide note?“, she writes herself.
“But now I have to say goodbye. I close my eyes and imagine holding you tight to my chest as you are ripped from my snot“, he continues, while on the last page of the book appears the image of a woman holding a baby. “I will pay any price, tell me please, what is the ransom for her soul?».
Fox has three children with her ex-husband, Brian Austin Green;to whom she was married from 2010 to 2022. She was also previously linked to her former ‘Transformers’ co-star Shia LeBeouf and high school sweetheart Ben Leahy.
“Relationships are not pretty. They are ugly. Sometimes it’s warFox told People in an interview promoting her book. “But through a hurt you are given the opportunity to grow and become a stronger, more complete version of yourself».
