Video released shows him being carried away strapped to a stretcher
Actor Michael Pitt, who became famous through “Boardwalk Empire” is hospitalized after a public outburst in New York.
The 41-year-old actor was taken into police custody after being taken by ambulance following an incident in the city.
Video obtained by TMZ shows Michael Pitt strapped to a stretcher and surrounded by paramedics, who arrived in an ambulance, being carried down a street in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
The actor was shirtless and wearing only dark shorts and a blue scarf around his neck.
A source said an anonymous person called police to report a man was throwing objects at people, possibly from the roof of a building.
The actor was arrested at the scene but not charged and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
It’s unclear what his current hospitalization status is, but in New York state, someone can only be involuntarily committed to psychiatric care for 72 hours, unless the hospital asks a judge for an extension, and then the detention can be extended to no more from 60 days.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Michael Pitt has had problems with the police.
In July, he was arrested at the same location for assault and petty theft after allegedly grabbing a man’s phone out of his hand and hitting him repeatedly in the head.
The man suffered minor injuries.
Michael Pitt is known for his roles in the HBO series ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Murder by Numbers’, Bernardo Bertolucci’s ‘The Dreamers’, Gus Van Sant’s ‘Last Days’ and Michael Haneke’s ‘Funny Games’.
He has also appeared in the NBC series ‘Hannibal’ as Mason Verger, as well as in the films ‘Ghost in the Shell’, ‘Seven Psychopaths’, ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ and ‘I Origins’.
