The International Day of Philhellenism and International Solidarity is dedicated to the spirit and values of Hellenism.
In the constant struggle for the moral and mental upliftment of the Greek Secretariat in the Greek Soul and Faith, which stood tall against the Ottoman Empire.
This struggle of a people crushed by long-term occupation and bloodshed, sensitized and awakened the intellectuals mainly of Europe. The Revolution of 1821 sparked a wave of philhellenism that contributed to the creation of modern Europe.
In this spirit, let us reflect on our responsibilities as a Nation and let us once again rise to the occasion of our values and history.
The Greek Orthodox Spirit will continue to illuminate and give meaning to the constant struggle for moral uplift in a Europe plagued by a lack of values, atheism and antitheism, arrogance and immoderate consumerism and hedonism. And because the Philhellenic movement had found its expression in Central Europe and especially in England and France and the 19the April’s International Day of Philhellenism and Solidarity is yet another occasion to raise the issue of returning the Parthenon sculptures to Greece and the Acropolis where they belong.
