The HERACLIS Group is proceeding with the installation of photovoltaic parks for self-production and self-consumption of electricity at its two factories, in Volos and Milaki, Evia. According to a relevant company announcement, the move aims to significantly further reduce the Group’s environmental footprint and contributes to the national effort to save electricity through the higher penetration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the country’s energy mix.
The investment concerns the installation and operation of photovoltaic systems, with a total area of 118 acres and a total power of 10.2 MW with the aim of producing approximately 14,000 MWh, corresponding to meeting the needs of approximately 3,500 households. The study, design, supply and installation of the materials, as well as the construction of the photovoltaic parks was undertaken by TERNA Energy ABETE.
It is one of the first RES installations in the country for high voltage without energy compensation, which will cover 5% of the Group’s annual electricity needs from January 2025, while improving the quality of electric power.
Mr. Dimitrios Hanis, CEO of the HERACLIS Group, said in this regard: “Always maintaining the highest standards for environmental protection, we contribute with this initiative to the national effort being made for the development of RES. We continue to implement our investment program committed to our strategy to lead the transition to innovative and sustainable construction.”
