A year after her marriage and very public divorce, the Sophia Bush she is in love again and now declares that she can breathe!
The actress broke her silence on her much-discussed love life as she wrote an op-ed in her own words for Glamor magazine, where she opened up about her close relationship with athlete Ashlyn Harris, 38, following her 2023 divorce from Grant Hughes, whom she married in 2022. As she revealed in her own words, she now identifies as queer: “I feel like I can finally breathe”He wrote.
Bush admitted that she is indeed “in love” with Harris, who she befriended in 2019 and then began a romantic relationship in October 2023 after her marriage to Grant fell apart and Ashlyn left her husband.
“I didn’t expect to find love in this support system”the star began, noting that her bond with Harris is rare and beautiful. “I don’t know how else to say it except: I didn’t see it until I saw it“.
Also, in her interview the star noted that she had told her previous partners that she was attracted to women. Apart from Hughes, she was also married to Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006.
And Bush also detailed her fertility struggle with Hughes, which was “heartbreaking”. As for falling in love with Ashlyn, who is a former soccer player, he said it was a new frontier. “And I think it’s very easy to not see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’ve never seen it as an option and you’ve never been seen as an option.“, he shared.
“What I saw was a friend with her long, happy life. And now I know he thought the same thing about me.” said the star.

Harris has two children with estranged wife Ali Krieger, from whom he split last year.
Bush then added that the rumors that she was seeing a woman shocked her. She then said there were many “outright lies and violent threats” directed at her because she was with Harris
“There were accusations that he is the reason my house fell apart,” he said. “Those who said I left my ex because I suddenly realized I wanted to be with women – my partners have known what I like for as long as I have (so that’s not it, y’all, sorry!)“, she said, clarifying that she was open with her ex-partners about liking women.
Now she feels very comfortable in the queer community as she has experienced so much “safety, respect and love to her, as an ally throughout my life, which, as I found myself, I already felt was my home“.
Sophia argued that her sexuality “exists on a spectrum”. And he concluded:Right now I think the word that best describes her is queer. I can’t say it without smiling, actually. And that’s a very nice feeling.”
In an accompanying Glamor podcast, Sophia revealed: “I feel like I’ve been wearing an 80-pound vest for probably a decade, and I finally just took it off… For the first time in my life, I know what peace means, I’m more excited about the future than ever, and I don’t feel like I owe anyone anything. I have never been more whole in my life… All I make room for is joy and I wish many things had happened a little differently, but at the end of the day, I have nothing to apologize for.
And he added: “The upside of this whole trip is that I spend every day around a person who being around is like the sun shining on you.”
