Matty Healy: Taylor Swift’s ex spoke for the first time about the rumors that her new songs are about him | Marie Claire

Mcan the Taylor Swift winning one award after another for her work, her new record ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ may have become the number one streamer on popular music platforms within just one week of its release, but most people are concerned with whether the lyrics in her songs talk about the relationship with British singer Matty Healy.

After the album was released, fans of her music are convinced that the singer in her new songs speaks for her romances with Matty Healy, but also Joe Alwyn. Taylor broke the internet when she unveiled her 11th studio album last week, taking the world by storm.

In fact, they’ve posted their theories on social media about which songs seem to be referring to Swift’s brief 2023 romance with The 1975 frontman. According to TODAY.com’s calculations, several tracks include elements referencing Healy.

So how does he feel about it himself?

In a recent video obtained by “Entertainment Tonight,” a paparazzi from The Image Direct approaches Healy, who is wearing a hoodie and carrying a backpack, on the street and asks the singer for his thoughts on the new record by Taylor Swift and the songs that are supposed to be about him.

His answer, as seen from the comments below the post, was not expected by many. However, he himself, apparently, has not dealt with all this much.

“I haven’t heard everything. But I’m sure it will be very good.” the singer said with Taylor Swift fans writing below the video:

“He just released a CD with at least 10 songs dedicated to him and he walks around like this unbothered? I can not”noted one with another writing: “I’m sure it’s good.” How could he know.”

However, there were many who commented on how comfortable the singer looked and how meaningless all these comments about the singer’s relationships seem to them.

“I think he gave a very correct, respectful answer. I have to give him credit for that”one said, and a second agreed, writing: “Good answer, Matty.”

The “Fortnight” singer and Healy made headlines in May 2023 after reports suggested their platonic friendship had taken a romantic turn. Rumors that the two were dating first started in 2014, but were put to rest when Taylor Swift was spotted with her partner of six years, Joe Alwyn.

However, her fans he was not in favor of this relationship and they were glad when it was over, as Matty Healy is not considered one of the “coolest guys” in the music scene, having previously made negative comments about Taylor Swift.

Talk of their brief romance recently reignited with the new record, as songs like “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Down Bad,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)”, said to refer to the musician’s controversial personality and relationship with Taylor.

Although Swift does not reveal the inspiration behind her songs, references to bands Healy is a fan of, such as Blue Nile, and his penchant for typewriters have been added to a long list of clues that suggest several songs on the record pertain to him.
