Giorgos Liagas was shocked: “I’m saying this for the first time, I wasn’t divorced even on a Sunday afternoon…”

After viewing the passage in question, Mr George Liagas expressed his disagreement with the way the meteorologist and ND MP handled the matter, while at the same time he made a shocking personal confession.

“I’ll say something for the first time. My father was a hemodialysis patient, like Mr. Kallianos’ father. He was on dialysis for two years. I wasn’t divorced yet and one Sunday afternoon he came to my house and we were playing. He was playing and laughing with his grandchildren.

By the time she left the house, she told me she was dizzy. He returned to his house in Colonos and his brother takes me, telling me that ‘dad is not well’. I called an ambulance and ran to the People’s Hospital.

They had him in a room. I went in and took his hand and he told me that it hurt a lot here (in the heart area). I understood that he had suffered a heart attack because due to hemodialysis – two days had passed and he had eaten and drank a little more – he had hyperkalemia. When potassium increases, a person is more likely to have a heart attack.

I was shouting for 2 hours to the doctors “guys he has had a heart attack, we have to put him in the cardiology unit”. Don’t say what was going on that day in the hospital. People were passing by with blood, the bad destruction was happening. I didn’t say “I’m Liagas and I’ll disown you if you don’t take him to the cardiology clinic”. I didn’t even make a video.

After two hours, when they take my father on the stretcher and I was holding his hand, he has a seizure. My father died the first time and I was holding his hand. It is an image that will never leave my mind. From that time and for 3-4 hours, all the hospital staff were over my father.

That day my father died 3-4 times and kept coming back. The third or fourth time, because I didn’t know what kind of problem this was going to create in his brain, I went inside the intensive care unit, while I was not allowed, and whispered something in his ear. Since then it has never returned. The doctors tried, I told them “let him go”. And left.

The easiest thing would be to come out and say that I am Liagas, that I have power and they are late. I thought about it. That if he had been taken a quarter of an hour earlier to the cardiac unit or intensive care unit, he might have been saved. I say it and I shudder. The easy thing would be to start blaming the doctors. They are the same people who sat 5-6 hours in front of a living and dying man while their service was over.

And in the hours they took, they might have saved 3-4 other human lives. I didn’t make it easy to blame the doctors. It’s the first time I’ve said it, it’s personal. I don’t blame the man who does it and obviously medical errors have been made. Doctors are not gods and they make many mistakes, but they save lives. Sorry to tell you something personal, but this story reminded me of my father,” he confessed George Liagas.
