THE Jon Bon Jovi confessed to crossing the line a few times during his 34-year marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley. In fact, he attributes the fact that their marriage has endured to his wife’s tolerance and patience.
“These are all great rock star clichés“, he told the Independent in an interview published on Sunday. “The point is to never lie that you were a saint, but also never be so stupid as to ruin family life».
He also explained that they have “a mutual admiration society and that they are lucky enough to have grown up together».
Bon Jovi famously expressed his deep regret for his many infidelities in his 1993 hit ‘Bed of Roses’.
In it, he sings: “Now that you close your eyes / Know that I’ll be thinking of you / While my lover calls me / To stand in her spotlight again / Tonight I won’t be alone / But you know that doesn’t mean I’m not alone / I’ve got nothing to prove / For you I would die to defend.”
The star married Hurley, 61, at Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas in 1989. They went on to have four children together: sons Jesse, 29, Jake, 21, and Romeo, 20, and daughter Stephanie, 30.
