Celine Dion has revealed that her wedding day to longtime manager Rene Angelil wasn’t as perfect as it looked in videos and photos.

In 1994, the then 26-year-old singer of the Titanic soundtrack “My Heart Will Go On” married 52-year-old Angélil and wore an elaborate headpiece that was decorated with 2,000 Swarovski crystals and weighed almost… three kilograms.

In a new Vogue video, Dion, who revealed almost two years ago that she has been diagnosed with Rigid Atom Syndrome, revealed how she felt during the wedding reception with the accessory on her head.

“At first I said ‘no problem, I can handle the weight’, also when you are so happy, there is no weight, no problem, no pain. We rehearsed once with the dress and the big veil and everything was perfect, I walked on wooden floors and had no problem, but when I had to walk in the cathedral where it was carpeted I struggled. I started asking myself ‘will I make it? will I reach my husband?”, she said.

“Then I spent the whole night like that, wearing the three-kilogram tiara on my head. The next day, I looked at myself in the mirror and the line on my forehead was still visible because of the long and long hours of stress, I look at my husband and say to him “haha it’s too late now, we’re married”. That same day I decided to go to the doctor and I ended up taking antibiotics for about three weeks,” she said in her interview with French Vogue.

Paying tribute to her late husband, Angélil, who died in 2016 from throat cancer aged 73, Dion said she still feels his presence. “It’s a moment that will be with me for the rest of my life.”

Among other things, Celine Dion also mentioned her performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she presented Taylor Swift’s album of the year. She herself spoke in the best words about the young singer, saying that this moment was “a great honor”. “Giving the award to Taylor Swift is an honor because she’s having a great time and it’s also very emotional when you get a standing ovation.”

“That magic, that excitement to see the fans, to see the crowd, to get back into show biz… It’s all very important, but I remember having my son’s support.”
