A “disgusting”, as she described it, experience during auditions, “back in the 2000s” was shared by Anne Hathaway (Anne Hathaway) in an interview in a well-known magazine.
Speaking to V Magazine, Anne Hathaway revealed, among other things, how she was asked to kiss ten men during a ‘chemistry test’the test in which actors are auditioned to see who they would be compatible with
“They told me, ‘we have ten men coming today and you are in the cast. You’re not excited to kiss all of them;‘. And I thought, ‘Is something wrong with me?’cause I wasn’t excited,” said Hathaway, without revealing, however, which film the particular audition was for.
“I found it disgusting,” the actress continued. “And I was so young and acutely aware of how easy it was to lose everything by being labeled ‘difficult,’ so I pretended to be excited and carried on,” she said.
In fact, at another point in her interview she stated that this practice “was considered normal” in the early 80s. “It wasn’t a power play, nobody was trying to hurt me. It was just a very different time and now we know better.”
For her new film, “The Idea of You”, which she is also a producer, she gave a different choice to the prospective actors, making the “chemistry test” more fun.
“We asked each of the actors who were coming in to pick a song that they felt their character would like, which they would put on to make the character I play dance to, and then we did a little improvisation,” she said. “I was sitting in a chair like we’d just come back from a dinner party or a walk or something, and we hit play and started dancing together.”
