THE Pyrros Dimas spoke for the first time about why his daughter, Maria, changed her last name and took her mother’s.
The Olympic gold medalist was a guest on Fay’s Time on the morning of Tuesday, April 23.
On this, he explained: “My daughter didn’t change her last name now. Ever since she lost her mom, she changed her last name. Then she even did some weightlifting and because there were some comments from some foreigners that she will become like her dad and that she will do weightlifting and become an Olympian, she tells me “but I don’t want to do it to become an Olympian, I want to do for me, to exercise and he tells me I will change my name”. He was also quoted in various reports claiming that the reason this was done was because his children were angry with him because of his relationship with Aphrodite Skafida. In early April it became known that his daughter Pyrrou DimaMaria, changed her name on social media and from Dima she changed it to Sdougou, as was the surname of her mother who has passed away.
Although there have been various reports claiming that this name change was due to friction in her relationship with her Olympian father, a report from the show ‘Hello’ has refuted the said claims.
