Princess Sofia of Spain: Prepares for solo appearance at 17 – King Felipe’s wish

At the age of almost 17, Sofia, his youngest daughter King Felipe and her Queen Letizia of Spain, is about to take a major step in her life as a princess by starting a solo project, following her father’s wishes, according to Hola! magazine.

Sofia of Spain has a big step ahead of her and she will do it alone. The youngest daughter of Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia is usually overshadowed by her eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, who will one day become queen. But at almost 17, her birthday is on April 29, the young princess is about to take on a new role thanks to her father, who has given her this first institutional role on behalf of the Crown.

Until now, Princess Sofia has not undertaken any official duties of her own. Her activities required the accompaniment of her parents or sister. In the summer of 2021, the two sisters, aged 15 and 14 at the time, took part in their first official event without their parents. For this solo engagement, Spain’s Sofia will be sponsoring a new photo contest named after her, Hola magazine revealed! on April 18.

The aim of the competition is to promote and communicate the historical, cultural and natural heritage of Spain through images. The princess will be responsible for presenting the awards “as the youngest member of the royal household, with which the institution is so closely linked,” according to the pageant’s rules.
