THE Michael Douglas talked about fatherhood in old age, noting, however, that it made him a better father.

However, the 79-year-old admitted that raising children in his 70s also means he is sometimes mistaken for his children’s grandfather.

The actor and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones54, married in 2000 and have son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 20.

Speaking to the Telegraph about the confusion he encountered when he visited his children’s university, he joked: “It’s not grandfather’s day, it’s parents’ day. I say “I’m a parent!” That was hard”.

Michael also has son Cameron, 45, with ex-wife Diandra Luker and admitted he missed out on much of his eldest child’s childhood due to his busy Hollywood schedule.

He said: “Cameron has suffered a lot since that time. I was just overwhelmed and overwhelmed by my work. And family really took third place after work and country. Then there was the family, unlike when we were together with Catherine. And you have already worked enough, and now you are enjoying the opportunity and the children”.

Michael talked about his life with Catherine and their children and explained that they have no problems and have a great life together. The couple now have “empty nest” syndrome after their two children moved away to go to university. Michael joked that children only want to see them when they are treated to a lavish holiday.
