By the end of 2024, it is expected that the first hydrogen filling station will be put into operation, which will be located on the national road at the height of Agioi Theodori. The infrastructure is already being built by the AVIN company with the project being co-financed by the EU. and the amount of investment to reach 3 million euros.

At the same time, the construction of the company’s second gas station has also begun, which will also be located on the national road at the height of Akrata. The project, also worth 3 million euros, is expected to be completed in 2025. With these two gas stations, which will be located on the two streams of the national road (Agioi Theodorou to Patras and Akrata to Athens), it is expected that mainly heavy vehicles (trucks ) which make the route to and from the port of Patras from Athens. In the first phase, the gas stations are expected to supply common “blue hydrogen” (produced from natural gas), while green hydrogen, i.e. hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources, is expected to be introduced soon.

It is noted that in total the network of AVIN service stations has 650 stations, while the investments in the network in the last two years amount to 30 million euros. In fact, recently 86 new gas stations have been added, of which 22 are privately owned and 64 are partnered.

As the general manager of AVIN Yiannis Raptakis emphasized during the presentation of the new ACTION fuels, the company’s basic strategy is developed in three pillars: increasing the share, participating in the energy transition and strengthening the brand.

According to AVIN’s commercial director Petros Zorapa, the company pioneers and brings to the market the best fuels with very high technical specifications, technologically advanced that cover all the needs of vehicles and drivers. “We listened to the market, which wants fuel with more kilometers, therefore economy, and fuel with top quality, therefore protection,” said Mr. Zorapas.

The special scientific partner of AVIN, Thanos Mylonas, referred to the special characteristics of the two advanced fuels that AVIN is launching on the market, Action 100 gasoline and Action Diesel. According to detailed tests carried out in real conditions, with the new fuels a high economy of up to 7% is achieved, a very high cleaning effect from the first fillings in the injectors, environmental protection with a reduction of up to 6% in the carbon footprint, optimal performance and reduction friction, drastic reduction of engine noise, reduction of oil foaming, while both fuels are also compatible for hybrid vehicles.

In terms of price Action fuel will be around 20 cents a liter more expensive than AVIN’s plain Best Value products however if you take into account the 7% savings, the protection of the engine from damage and breakdowns and the benefit in vehicle maintenance as well as the benefits of the reward program “win” then the cost comes out lower than the simple gasoline or oil product.
