Official: This is the electric Mercedes G-Class!

This electric and all-wheel drive behemoth accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h within just 4.7 seconds with top speed limited to 180 km/h. Impressive numbers for one curb weight of 3,085 kg.

Note that the AC charging power is at 11 kW and DC at 200 kW with the factory average autonomy to be located at 434-473 kilometers.



Beyond the performance on the asphalt the electric G-Class is top and off road having a maximum depth of water passage at 85 cm and ability to pass through side slopes up to 35 degrees.

At the same time, it will easily cope with uneven terrain with an approach angle 32.0 degreesdeparture angle 30.7 degrees and ramp angle 20.3 degrees.



With ground clearance close to 25 cm and a host of off-road features such as two-speed “short” mode or the G-Turn with torque vectoring function and digital “locks” of virtual differentials simulating the operation of classic 4×4. And even better…



In addition, the G 580 offers three personalized modes to assist off-road driving: the G-Turn which we said and which allows it to rotate 720 degrees on the spot, the G-Steering which reduces the turning circle allowing it to rotate around its axis and a off-road detection mode at particularly low speeds.



There is also a new “transparent hood” function which uses the front cameras to project forward to infotainment screen to make it easier to deal with obstacles.

Although the price remains unknown, it is expected that the electric G-Class will have a correspondingly premium price compared to the corresponding gasoline engines but logically it will be lower because of the tax breaks. However, with advances in battery technology promising increased range and performance, the investment is a glimpse into the future of premium 4x4s.
