A few airports they are exasperatingly full, others are amazingly luxurious, and there are some that are downright stressful. However, if you’re traveling abroad, you often can’t avoid them. Luckily, we’ve got some information on which airports are the best overall, so you know what to expect if you’re heading to one of them sometime soon.
Based on customer satisfaction surveys of 550 airports worldwide, the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024 have just named Doha’s Hamad Airport as the best airport on the planet! It ousted last year’s winners Singapore with Changi, who were relegated to second place but have won 12 times previously, from the top spot.
Commenting on the win, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Badr Al Meer said it was “truly honored that passengers have voted us the best airport in the world for the third time”, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Eight European airports made it into the top 20. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was ranked sixth, while Munich, Zurich and Istanbul airports also made the top ten. Although Singapore’s Changi dropped one place, Asia also performed well, taking seven of the top 20 places, four of which were in Japan.
Haneda and Tokyo’s Narita airports are both in the top five, while Centrair Nagoya and Kansai airports are also in the top 20.
