Batches of smoked trout are being recalled, as following checks, in the context of investigating a complaint submitted to APPEALthe presence of a pathogenic microorganism was found.

It’s about bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which was detected in products of the company “G. PANAGIOTOPOULOS I. BAKATSIAS OE. FISH CULTURE”, after the control carried out by the Food Hygiene Department of the Directorate of the Athens Veterinary Center of the FSAAT.

The company proactively recalled the products a) “Smoked Trout of Karpenisi (fillet)“, with the trade name “frésco” and production date from 23.01.2024 to 10.04.2024 (expiry date from 22.05.2024 to 08.08.2024), b) “Smoked Marinated Karpenisi Trout (fillet)“, with the trade name “frésco” and a production date from 24.01.2024 to 09.04.2024 (expiration date from 21.08.2024 to 05.11.2024) and c) “Smoked Trout of Karpenisi (whole)“, with the trade name “fresco” and a production date from 24.01.2024 to 28.03.2024 (expiry date from 22.07.2024 to 24.09.2024).

“EFET in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Economy & Veterinary Medicine of the Regional Unit of Evrytania are continuing the controls and the company has been put under surveillance. Consumers, who have purchased the above products, are requested not to consume them”, it is noted in an EFET announcement.

Regarding the case, the company also issued a statement, which has been posted on her website.
