The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zaharaki, speaking to the director of Newsbomb.gr, Amalia Katzou, gave an interview after all the material.

Speaking about the birth allowance, Mrs. Zacharaki said that the amount will be credited “before Easter to the mothers’ accounts”.

As he even pointed out, there is no need to make applications from the mothers.

400 euros were added to the amount for the first child, 300 euros for the second and for twins you get double or triple the amount.

“It is an aid to the first expenses. Godfathers and godmothers know how important the expenses are for parents,” he emphasized.

To the question of whether there is planning to increase the amount, Sofia Zaharaki said: “At the moment there is no planning.” As noted by Mrs. Zaharaki, the child benefit will be given (half) with a prepaid card and half normally. “Disability benefit is not included in this reform and housing benefit is not included. However, these will take effect from September,” he noted.

As Mrs. Zaharaki pointed out, all OPECA benefits will be credited to the accounts of the beneficiaries on the last working day of the month. She spoke about the benefits of the government, stressing that mothers who will be out of work will have an aid.

According to her, “the message the government gives is that it supports the family”.

As the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family mentioned, it is important for a young person to feel safe to have a family in Greece. “There is no child who qualifies and is out of nursery school.”

“Those parents who apply and whose applications have been approved will be admitted to the nurseries,” emphasized Mrs. Zaharaki. “No child will be left out of nursery schools. No child with a disability is going to be left out of nurseries,” added the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family.

For the “Rent – Renovate” program, citizens can enter a platform and immediately see if they are eligible for the program or not. “The goal is to expand the choices of tenants and to help with rents,” noted Mrs. Zaharaki.

Regarding the “My Home” program, Sofia Zaharaki said: “The world needs these programs that help families.”

As he noted, student accommodation will reach 8,500 in the next period and the aim is to utilize State properties for social housing. “We are already talking to some municipalities that have their own buildings about how the market will respond,” said Mrs. Zaharaki.

Referring to the European elections, Mrs. Zaharaki commented: “The European elections are important. There are serious challenges at the European level. We saw what happened in Thessaly or the pieces that have to do with labor. It is important that your vote is trusted. ND can ensure stability.”

Commenting on the polls, Mrs. Zaharaki said: “I will remember what happened in Education, about the appointments, what happened in the Economy, what happened with the reduction of unemployment. Maybe people are tired. It is our obligation to the citizens to speak to them. I have confidence in the judgment of citizens. The final result of the election was different from the polls. We will listen to citizens’ complaints.” In fact, he noted: “The new ND administration is very recent.”
