“Salty” this year’s Easter table – What will the price of lamb meat reach – What Mr. Theodoros Roussos, president of the Athens-Attica Butchers Retailers Association “The Taxiarches” says to Newsbomb.gr
The Easter table is expected to be more expensive than last year. Prices for lamb and goat seem to be “hot” this year.
According to what breeders report on Nerwsbomb.gr, today the lamb leaves the stable at 7-8 euros per kilo, while at the butchers its price reaches close to 15 euros.
In particular, according to what was reported to Newsbomb.gr, Mr. Theodoros Roussos, president of the Butchers Retailers Union of Athens-Attica “The Brigadier Generals”: “Currently we sell at around 13 to 13.50 euros per kilo. Estimates for Easter indicate that it may bite 1 euro and reach 14.50 euros. At the moment there are lambs.”
He added: “The prices are at approximately the same levels as last year. We’re not talking about wholes. If someone buys the whole thing, it can be found for 12 euros. As far as the consumer is concerned, he should know that there are constant checks. However, the main weapon of the consumer is the trust he has in his butcher”.
It should be noted that according to representatives of the producers, it is estimated that this year the exports made in the previous period to Italy, Spain and Portugal due to the Catholic Easter were by 20% increased compared to last year.
What products are included in the “Easter Basket”
From the April 24 until May 4 comes into force “Easter basket”.
The “Easter Basket” includes the following products:
