The Central Library of Volos, housed in the Spirer building, received a significant donation of 309 new editions of modern Greek prose and poetry from the Public Benefit Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects (K.I.K.P.E.) through its Library Network Future Library in which he participates.
With the central slogan “More books, more readers” for the 12th consecutive year, Future Library in collaboration with KIKPE implements actions to strengthen Public and Municipal libraries.
The Central Library of the Municipality of Volos (Mikrasiaton 81) is among the 20 Public and Municipal libraries, from all over Greece, whose collections will be enriched with a total of 6,200 books from selected publishers.
The donation is included in the action “Enrichment of Public and Municipal Library Collections for 2023” which is implemented by Future Library with financial support from the Nonprofit Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects (K.I.K.P.E.) and the process was completed in March 2024. Since the start of the action, in 2012, 76 Public and Municipal libraries of the Future Library Network with more than 50,000 new valuable publications.
On the occasion of the donation, the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Museums Ms. Elena Antonopoulou made the following statement: “We are very happy to accept the donation of KIKPE through Future Library and we feel lucky that our libraries are included among the 20 Public and Municipal libraries that will enrich the their collections through this donation.

As part of the activities for the World Book Day on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the Central Library of Volos (Mikrasiaton 81, Spirer building) there will be an exhibition for the public with the donated books (opening hours: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and afternoon 5pm-8pm)
