The book “The broken is more durable (Poems 1970-2022)”, signed by Yiannis Patilis, is published by Ypsilon publications.
The present consolidated edition of his poetry collections Giannis Patilis it is the third in fifty-three years since 1970, the year of publication of his first book of poetry The Little One and the Beast. Thirty years after the publication of his second collection (1993), this third edition fills a large gap by including his voluminous poetic work after 2000. It also restores the original form of his first poetry collections, after bringing back sixteen poems that had been excluded from the previous compilations. Minor corrections have also been made to titles, words, rhyming and punctuation. The body of the volume’s ten collections are complemented by rich notes and indexes as well as the poet’s essay “Broken is more Durable | Poems and Thoughts on the Age of Ruins”an exposition, with poetic examples, of the personal experiential and psychospiritual conditions of his poetic work.
Giannis Patilis – Information about the author
O Giannis Patilis was born in Athens in 1947. He studied law and philology at EKPA. In 1978 he was co-founder and co-editor, up to the third issue, of the magazine To Dentro and, in the period 1983-1984, co-founder and co-editor of the magazines Kritiki ia Keimena and Nisos: Musiki ia Poisii. He has worked as a philologist in public Secondary Education and as a publishing editor. From 1986 to 2014 he published the literary magazine Planodion. His poems have been published in magazines and anthologies, in Greece and abroad. The entirety of his poetic work is published by ypsilon / books.
