Benedict’s thoughts were made public by his previously trusted personal secretary, Monsignor Georg Gänswein

The move by the Bishop of the R/Catholic Church and trusted personal secretary of Pope Benedict, Georg Gänswein, has caused intense debate in Vatican circles, but also internationally. to make public personal thoughts of the Pope Emeritus, who recently passed away.

Italian media reports that Gänswein makes no secret of his poor relationship with Pope Francis and say he was disappointed when Francis relieved him of his duties.

In 190 pages and six chapters gathers all the writings compiled in the monastery of Mater Ecclesiae where Pope Benedict lived after his resignation from the ministry. The writings were entrusted by Benedict XVI himself to theologian Elio Guerriero and were also published by Monsignor Georg Ganswein according to Italian media and information on open.online.

The book titled “Nothing but the truth – My life with Benedict XVI” was released last Thursday and is so far only available in Italian, but translations are expected to be requested soon.

An attempt was made to delay the extradition

In fact, according to Italian sources, before the official premiere, individual chapters of the book had been distributed to Italian journalists immediately after the death of Benedict XVI.

However, German sources claim that the monsignor tried to “prevent” the extradition. “In an attempt to prevent the publication of the book about his life at the side of the late Pope, Archbishop Georg Gänswein contacted the top management of the publishing house Mondadori,” reports German Catholic newspaper, “Die – Tagespost”.

What is mentioned in the book?

Among other things in the book, Ganswein is quoted as arguing that Benedict not only did not imagine he would ever become pope, but rather ran what he calls a “reverse campaign.”

There is also mention of an occasion when the then Pope Benedict wore one black sweater under the cassock because he was cold, and it showed when he rolled up his sleeves for the benediction which resulted in comments.

But these aren’t the quotes that have sparked reactions. Information from the Italian media speaks of reports of “homosexual clubs” and the screening of “pornographic films” in seminaries.

There has been no official reaction from the Vatican so far.
