The announcement of the Coast Guard
A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon on a boat off Meganissi in Lefkada.
A boat and men of the Coast Guard, as well as private boats, rushed to extinguish the fire. The “Meganissi 2” line ship also made an attempt to put out the fire.
According to ilefkada, the two English passengers of the boat fell into the sea out of fear, however, they were picked up by the Coast Guard and are in good health.
The boat sank to a depth of 60 meters.

An announcement about the incident was issued this Sunday morning by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, in which it states:
“Yesterday afternoon, the Port Authorities of Lefkada and Nidri were informed, by the Master E/G – O/G of the ship, about a fire on the I/F vessel “SYNCHRONICITY” of the United Kingdom flag, in the sea area between “THILIA” n. Meganisiou and “DESIMI” in Lefkada, with two (02) foreigners on board.
Two (02) LS patrol boats immediately went to the area. – EL.AKT. with an echelon of the Lefkada Fire Service, the private vessel “TZOU 8” with an officer of the relevant Port Authority on board and the floating vessel “ACHILOS” T.L. 152 A’.
The above occupants of the I/F transferred to “ACHILOS” and were transported in good health and safely to the port of Nidri, while patrol boats L.S. – EL.AKT. with the assistance of the above Fire Brigade they threw water in order to extinguish the fire. “SYNCHRONICITY” then sank to a depth of approximately 60.50 meters.
A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the 1st Port Department of Nidri of the Lefkada Port Authority, while no marine pollution was observed from the incident.”
